Kuzma Korner: Grant's Farm

We had several recommendations from friends to take Sofia to Grant's Farm while we were in St. Louis. We looked it up on the internet and it looked like fun for the whole family. We were really impressed! It is over 100 acres of land owned by the Aneheuser Busch family. The farm is named after a log cabin that belonged to Ulysses S. Grant. The family bought it and had it moved to the farm.

The farm is also a wildlife preserve. As we took the tram around the property, most of the animals were roaming free. The buffalo came really close to the tram trail. Once we got to the center of the property, there were animals behind fences and you could pet some. Sofia actually touched a cockatiel. She also fed baby goats, a llama and a camel.

We saw a show where they demonstrated what the birds can do. We also enjoyed a show with an elephant named "Bud". They had great food in an area that looked like a German village. Paul was excited to eat bratwurst and they even had free beer in the hospitality booth.

At the end of our day, we saw the Clydesdale stables. These animals were SO beautiful and they even had ponies that were being trained to pull the beer carriages. It was amazing how much bigger they are than regular horses. Sofia even touched a few.

All in all it was a great day! Paul and I had so much fun watching Sofia enjoy the animals.
